Hugh Panaro gave a beautiful performance at The Leading Men II concert held at Birdland Jazz Club last night. He dedicated "Right Before My Eyes" to J.C. Sheets, a former Jean Valjean understudy, longtime dresser at The Phantom of the Opera, and friend, who passed away suddenly the previous day.
After the show, he braved the subzero wind-chill outside the Club to record a short video greeting for HPN.
Apologies for the darkness of the video; there wasn't much light outside the club.
Also, check the Media and Candids page for some new additions.

A short, but very good review of Hugh's performance last night in Buffalo:
Panaro sang a lovely “Bring Him Home,” from “Les Mis.” His handling of the initial octave leap was admirable, and he ended the song in a faultless falsetto. As Hamlisch bluntly told us, “If you don’t cry in this song, get out of the theater.”

The Leading Men - Streisand's "Boys" from Playbill.com

Q: As a leading man, is it tough subsuming yourself in
the group dynamic?
Panaro: It's not really because one thing that the four of us
do pretty naturally, which comes from performing as a soloist or a
leading man, is duets. I sang so many duets. You watch someone's
mouth and your consonants and vowels, your phrasing…At the risk of
sounding crass, it's like good sex. You really pay attention to your
partner, what you're giving and what you're getting. The four of us
really watch each other and tune into each other. I think being part
of a group is rewarding, especially when you get four voices in
harmony. It's beautiful! Especially if you're four voices moving as
one. I sang in concert choir in college [and] at Carnegie Hall. When
you're part of a group, there's a certain camaraderie and a power
with four guys, a lot more power than just one. If there was one
a-hole in the group, you might feel differently, but everybody's
great and everybody pulls their weight. I love making music, and
that's kind of what we're doing.

The tour plays Berlin tonight.

Due to the current strike that has closed most musicals and plays, Broadway Cares is losing thousands of dollars in donations that would normally have been raised during their annual November fund collection at shows. Please, help them out by making a donation through this site. Please see our BC/EFA page for more information.

Many thanks to photographer Maryann Lopinto for sharing some excellent pictures with us.

Hometown Annapolis has a nice review of last week's Broadway Tenor's concert.
"But the funniest number (and the one that had my stomach growling for nourishment) was Mr. Panaro's heartfelt and ardent love song to Sara Lee. I was doing fine until he started listing all of her baked and frosted delights; then I lost it, and compulsively ate my program."
